Publishing my 50th bird, and it is getting increasingly harder not to repeat species — but I had a special guest up my sleeve for the occasion: a Green Woodpecker, snapped in the late afternoon at Nonsuch Park. These woodpeckers are a bit unusual in that they mostly feed on the ground, which is why the photo above shows it in that typical pose. Their diet is made up mostly of ants, which they dig from the soil using their beak.
