When we noticed these birds flying high overhead, we first thought they must be some kind of bird of prey. Then we realised how huge they really were and assumed they were cranes flying in, especially since, through the viewfinder, we could clearly see some red (cranes usually have a red cap). Only when sorting and editing the photos did I notice that the red was on the beak and the eye, not the cap – which means these are, in fact, extremely rare Black Storks.
