On the way home we decided to sneak in one more bird-site visit – Parc du Marquenterre in Somme Bay, Hauts-de-France. It is a lovely reserve with a few dozen hides and observation points, well-stocked with rare birds. Lots of good photos of rarities, and I will start sharing them with the title bird: Spoonbill. I have never seen these birds so close and noted a few interesting points: their toes, from certain angles, surprisingly resemble human hands, and their bill is actually angled down when seen from the side. One more photo here.
