Over the next week or so we are going to do slightly larger outings, and the first was to the Seine Estuary reserves near the Pont de Normandie. Before reaching the reserve, we made a short stopover in a village called Marais-Vernier, where the locals have created a circular hiking path through marshland used for grazing animals. It was mentioned in a book called Where to Watch Birds in France. It was a very interesting walk – we saw quite a few birds, including rarities like Kingfisher and birds of prey – Hobby and Buzzard. Unfortunately, we did not manage any good photos of these – however, we did get a snap of this beautiful juvenile Linnet.
